My Education Journey
PROGRESS:
I believe that my biggest area of progress is in teaching my students with special needs. Having no prior experience on teaching students with special needs, figuring out how to best educate them has been a wonderful and educational journey.
Seeing their growth in music and increasing amount of confidence in my classroom has been proof that my teaching has made an impact on them. I have much more growing to do in the future, but I am very pleased with my progress throughout the last two and a half years.
Going down a music therapy route with my special needs students has been one of the best decisions that I have made for my teaching techniques, and I plan to expand on it in the future. By taking this route, my students have shown significant progress and have made wonderful musical discoveries. Many have learned to utilize their voices for singing, one student even discovering that he has perfect pitch! Additionally, students have been able to creatively expand on their motor function skills.
Overall, seeing students gain skills in my classroom that they likely would not be able to gain anywhere else is a huge driving force behind why I love teaching music so much. I hope that I am able to continue to learn and grow on this path for many years to come.
